SEATTLE — At a press conference in downtown Seattle this morning, Mayor Katie Wilson signed Executive Order 2026-04 to identify immediate and longer-term actions to accelerate housing production in the city. Among the directives within the Order is the establishment of a Housing Production Task Force, and we are proud to announce that CREDA Washington State’s Director of Government Affairs, Carter Nelson, has been appointed Co-Chair.

The Task Force brings together leaders from the private sector, non-profits, community development organizations, and affordable housing groups to establish recommendations that support housing production and promote affordability in Seattle.  

Carter’s appointment reflects the strong relationships CREDAWA has built with Mayor Wilson’s Office, City Council, and city departments over the past year, amidst ongoing engagement on housing, permitting, land use, and economic development issues.  

As Seattle continues to tackle affordability and housing supply challenges, CREDAWA has ensured an industry perspective is always at the table to inform the conversation and help shape solutions.  

Over the next year, the Housing Production Task Force will examine changes the city can pursue to improve permitting timelines, support affordable housing production, modernize development processes, preserve existing housing, and advance policies that encourage new housing construction across the city to ensure current and future Seattleites have options when choosing a place to call home.
